The Product Backlog is an ordered list of everything that might be needed in the product. It is the single source of requirements for any changes to be made.
Characteristics
- Dynamic and evolving based on changing requirements and feedback
- Prioritized by the Product Owner to maximize value
- Contains features, fixes, technical work, and knowledge acquisition
Ownership
- Owned and managed by the Product Owner
- The Development Team collaborates to refine and estimate items
Refinement
- Ongoing process of adding detail, estimates, and order to backlog items
- Helps ensure the backlog is ready for upcoming Sprints
Importance
- Provides transparency and a clear roadmap for the Scrum Team and stakeholders
- Enables adaptive planning and flexibility
