Developers Accountability

Developers are the Scrum Team members accountable for creating a usable Increment each Sprint that meets the Definition of Done. Per Scrum Guide 2020, "Developers" replaces the old "Development Team" label to emphasize one team.

Accountabilities

• Delivering the Sprint Goal:
  Working collaboratively to build the product Increment that meets the Definition of Done and moves toward the Product Goal.

• Self-Managing:
  Planning and managing their own work — deciding who, how, and what to work on — without direction from outside the team.

• Cross-Functional Skills:
  Having all necessary skills within the team to deliver the product, including design, development, testing, and documentation.

• Participating in Scrum Events:
  Actively engaging in Sprint Planning, Daily Scrums, Sprint Reviews, and Retrospectives.

Key Characteristics (Scrum Guide 2020)

• Part of a Scrum Team of 10 or fewer people total
• No titles or sub-teams — Developers are Developers regardless of specialty
• Collective accountability for the Increment delivered
• Collaborative and communicative
