Increment¶
An Increment is the sum of all the Product Backlog items completed during a Sprint combined with the value of the increments of all previous Sprints.
Characteristics¶
- Must be in a usable condition regardless of whether the Product Owner decides to release it
- Meets the Scrum Team's Definition of Done — the commitment for the Increment
- Provides a concrete step toward the Product Goal
Purpose¶
- Delivers tangible value to stakeholders and customers
- Enables frequent inspection and adaptation of the product
- Supports continuous integration and delivery
Definition of Done (DoD) — Commitment for the Increment¶
- Created by the Scrum Team as a shared commitment for quality
- Ensures quality and completeness of each Increment
- Can include coding, testing, documentation, and deployment criteria

- Ensures transparency about progress and quality
- Builds confidence in the product’s readiness for release
